NZRC is this country’s premier nationwide rally championship, attracting New Zealand’s best drivers to compete in numerous categories. In 2020 there are five NZRC rounds, each with a unique character reflecting the diverse regions – from Northland to Otago - in 2020 culminating in a round of the World Rally Championship being held in New Zealand for the first time in 8 years.
Rally Otago and Rally Whangarei are both rounds of the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship, an event Haydon Paddon has set his sights on being the first Kiwi since Possum Bourne to win - so expect him to bring a master class in rally driving to these two events. For this year, to qualify for the final round of the APRC in Coffs Harbour, Australia in November, just two events of the APRC calendar need to be completed. So expect, Rally Otago and Rally Whangarei to bring top class drivers from the region.

Rnd1 | DriveSouth Rally of Otago - 3/5 Apr 2020

The rolling landscape of the Otago foothills and plains host the DriveSouth Rally of Otago - the opening round of the NZRC in the South Island.
The event also incorporates the International Classic Rally of Otago, for pre-1982, 2WD cars - the leading event of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.
Reconnaissance is on Thurs 2nd April and Friday morning 3rd April, followed by a ceremonial rally start at The Octagon, on Friday night. Then it's bring on the gravel special stages Saturday and Sunday, April 04-05!

Rnd2 | International Rally of Whangarei - 8/10 May 2020

The International Rally of Whangarei is held over Northland's fast flowing cambered roads spread over 16 special stages totalling approx 270km of competition! Some describe these as the best rally stages in the world.
The International Rally of Whangarei doubles as a round of the 2020 FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship and the second round of 2020 New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC).
Top Tip: Fly into Auckland and collect a rental car from our Auckland Airport depot, and enjoy the drive from Auckland to Whangarei!
Rnd 3 | South Canterbury Rally - 20 June 2019

The South Canterbury Rally will feature the regions gravel public roads including some of the infamous old stages from the years gone by. With over 200km in one day, this event is going to test teams speed and endurance.
Top Tip: Pick up a car from our Christchurch Airport or Christchurch City depots and head out for some spectacular sightseeing!

Top Tip: Pick up a car from our Auckland Airport depot and cruise down to the Hawke's Bay (about a 5-hr drive), ready for some awesome rally action in the beautiful Hawke's Bay. Better still, add some days to your holiday and explore all that the region has to offer - beautiful beaches, wineries, orchards and restaurants make it a gastronomic paradise.

Yeehaa! In 2020 Auckland hosts a round of the FIA World Rally Championship. After an 8 year hiatus, it's back. Rally New Zealand has held the event 32 times before, and is delighted to have secured this event as a one-off for 2020. With support from ATEED, and Haydon Paddon as Rally Ambassador, backed by the proven rally event organising skills of Rally New Zealand, this will be an event for rally fans not to miss. Rally fans from around the globe - you are encouraged to pre-register for tickets, so you do not miss out!
